Surgery Preparation at Surgical Center of TVH

Important tips to consider when preparing for surgery:

1. If you are having knee, hip, or spine surgery, please refer to the Guide to Surgery that was given to you at your Pre-Admission Testing appointment. It contains detailed instructions on what to do prior to your surgery to make your recovery time just a little easier. If you still need to schedule your Pre-Admission Testing appointment, call 208-373-5056.
2. If you are having knee, hip, or spine surgery, remember to sign up for a pre-surgery class through our Pre-Admission Testing department. Our instructors will share all of their tips and tricks so your surgical experience will go as smoothly as possible. Call 208-373-5056 to schedule.
3. Follow all of your pre-surgery preparation instructions and arrive at the facility on time.
4. Remember to leave jewelry and cash at home.
5. You may bring personal hygiene items, glasses or contacts, hearing aids, cell phone and charger, or other electronic device. SC-TVH has wifi available for our guests.
6. Bring a list of all the medications you are currently taking including dosage amounts.
7. Plan for recovery time. The Surgical Center of TVH is an ambulatory surgery center, which means patients do not stay overnight and are discharged the same day. Be sure to ask your doctor how much time you should expect to be at home recovering from your procedure.
8. Arrange for somebody to drive you home after you have been discharged from the facility. Under no circumstances is a patient allowed to drive themselves home.
9. If you have had knee, hip, or spine surgery at SC-TVH, refer often to the Guide to Surgery that was given to you at your Pre-Admission Testing appointment. It will teach you how to assess and manage your pain levels and give you exercises to help you regain your mobility faster.
